| Well that sucked |
[27 Sep 2006|12:18pm] |
So yeah, due to corporate bullcrap, yesterday I found out I am now gainfully unemployeed. Good news is that they are still paying me for a while, long enough to find another job at least. So until then I gotta bust my ass finding somewhere new to work.
It's actually strangely liberating getting laidoff. I mean it totally sucks that I lost a job I liked a whole hell of a lot, but at the same time I am getting paid to do nothing but sit around and watch TV, which I have always said is the way it should be.
Well thats about it for now, I gotta type up a shiny new resume, forged out of lies and 20 dollar bills, and start looking for my new temporary income until I win the lottery.

Turtle in roadway leads to highway wreck, patrol says

© 2006, Springfield News-Leader
A turtle apparently contributed to a Greene County wreck that sent three people to a local hospital, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported last night.
The two-vehicle collision occurred after 9 a.m. Monday when 51-year-old Marsha A. Denney of Ash Grove swerved to miss a turtle on Route V, two miles north of Ash Grove, a patrol report said.
Denney’s southbound 2005 Subaru struck a northbound 2004 Chevrolet in the side, the report said.
Chevrolet driver Angela N. Collins, 31, of Springfield and passengers Madeline L. Hall and Hailey M. Collins, both 5 and from Springfield, were transported to St. John’s Hospital with moderate injuries, the report said.
Denney was not reported injured.
So, that's it folks the Great Human/Turtle War for dominence of the planet has finally begun just as I always said it would. The turtles may have struck first but now is the time of us, as a spieces to rally and drive them back into the petshops and pond they come from.

| And now for your Knee-Jerk Fear Reaction to Technology |
[19 May 2006|12:24pm] |
For the first time, a robot surgeon in Italy has carried out a long-distance heart operation by itself.
"This operation has enabled us to cross a new frontier," said Carlo Pappone, who initiated and monitored the surgery on a PC in Boston, ANSA reported. Pappone is head of Arrhythmia and Cardiac Electrophysiology at Milan's San Raffaele University.
The 50-minute surgery, which took place in a Milan hospital, was carried out on a 34-year-old patient suffering from atrial fibrillation. Dozens of heart specialists attending an international congress on arrhythmia in Boston also watched.
Pappone has used the robot surgeon in at least 40 operations.
"It has learned to do the job thanks to experience gathered from operations on 10,000 patients," Pappone said, pointing out that the robot carries the expertise of several human surgeons used to boost its software.
Like the title man said, this is probably just a knee-jerk fear reaction but this kinda bothers me.

| Delicious Irony: Earthquake strikes Tonga during international Tsunami drill |

NUKU'ALOFA, Tonga (AP) - A magnitude 5.8 earthquake disrupted a simulated tsunami warning drill Wednesday on the remote South Pacific island country Tonga, an official said.
The quake rattled Tonga early Wednesday at the same time emergency authorities on the country's islands were broadcasting simulated alerts as part of a Pacific-wide simulation to test a warning system that spans the world's largest ocean.
The quake, the latest in a string of aftershocks to hit the country since a powerful 7.8 quake May 4, caused no damage or injury.
Tonga's National Disaster Office deputy director Mali'u Takai said people in the Ha'apai island group near the epicentre of Wednesday's quake felt the ground move as officials were broadcasting mock tsunami warnings, sparking a rash of phone calls to emergency services.
The National Disaster Office was "bombarded with questions" as the quake hit in the midst of the tsunami test, Takai said.
He added authorities should have done more to make clear to residents the warnings, broadcast on local radio stations, were part of a test.
"We should have warned the people about it, because some...don't realize it's an exercise," he added.

In the interest of my return to Martial Arts I thought it a good idea to visit my doctor to get some advice on how I should go about dropping some weight. So yesterday I had my appointment and was told I was overweight. Duh! I knew that. What I didn't know was I am in a border-dangerous area. Basically he told me I have high blood pressure and if I don't start dropping weight and low my blood pressure I am at serious risk for all sorts of fun malities. I knew I was out of shape and I knew I was overweight but I didn't realize I was this close to serious medical problems. Now I am having to really watch what I eat, how much and when. This coupled with the fact that pretty much all my favorite food is now off limits, it's just going to be difficult to make this adjustment.
That being said I am eating better now and in a month I go back to see what steps need to be taken. I'm ok and I don't want anyone that knows me freaking out. This is a problem I have to deal with not only for my health but also my future plans and goals. The whole situation just sucks for me and I'm only writting it here because I find that it helps get it off my chest rather than dump it all on one of my friends or family. I just gotta keept telling myself this is a sacrifice I have to make to better myself.
I hate being a downer so that's it no more of this "serious" shit.
I'm gonna be off work in a few hours and look forward to a nice, relaxing weekend.
Later.

| All Hail! Thine Poke of Hokey! |
[28 Apr 2006|12:36pm] |
O proud left foot, that ventures quick within Then soon upon a backward journey lithe. Anon, once more the gesture, then begin: Command sinistral pedestal to writhe. Commence thou then the fervid Hokey-Poke, A mad gyration, hips in wanton swirl. To spin! A wilde release from Heavens yoke. Blessed dervish! Surely canst go, girl. The Hoke, the poke -- banish now thy doubt Verily, I say, 'tis what it's all about.

Well warmer weather is upon us and now begins the days of cruising around all day and night. So now, much like Top Gear, I am trying to decide what the best driving songs to put on a CD are.
I got these already:
The Theme Song from "Top Gear" Queen - Don't Stop Me Now Gold Earring - Radar Love Johnny Cash - I've Been Everywhere AC\DC - Highway To Hell Stroke9 - Kick Some Ass The Blues Brothers - Sweet Home Chicago Red Hot Chili Peppers - Road Trippin' Extreme - Play With Me Iron Maiden - Aces High
Open to suggestions, what are your favorite driving songs or what would driving CD sound like?

| Now THERE'S a couple that knows how to fight! |
[12 Apr 2006|01:09pm] |
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - A Mexican couple were recovering separately after a marital spat got out of control and saw them firing guns, throwing knives and hurling homemade bombs, Mexican daily Milenio said on Monday.
Juan Espinosa and Irma Contreras fought until their house blew up in a homemade gasoline bomb explosion, Milenio said.
Police called to the home in the indigenous Mayan Indian town of Oxkutzcab in the southeastern state of Yucatan arrested Espinosa. Contreras was taken to hospital with third-degree burns.
A local police official confirmed the report but declined to provide further information.
Espinosa told reporters he was glad his wife had suffered burns, while Contreras said she was only sorry she had not "hacked off his manhood" during the fight.
